Ellie Evans is fourteen. Her father's career has moved them frequently so she has a difficult time making friends. Lately she's been plagued with bad dreams.

During a particularly hard day, she finds a mysterious egg-shaped stone. She soon meets an unusual goth girl who opens a portal to a strange gestalt world where creatures and humans from all eras of Earth's history live. She is cast into a quest to defeat the Unweaver, which is a dark entity bent on destroying her new world. 

She soon learns the egg contains a Celestial dragon who helps her discover hidden musical talents that fuel the magic in this world. Ellie and her friends must use this talent to drive out the malignant force threatening the world.
