An innovative method for choosing books to read

Mood & Emotion Books Character & Plot

Writing a book with my sister has been an absolute joy. We have probably spoken more in the last 18 months than in the last 18 years!

Candice Zee is a multi-award-winning middle-grade and YA fantasy writer who first dreamed the idea of The Munchkins as a child while playing make-believe with her brother in Wilkes-Barre, PA. She is an early childhood teacher with an M.Ed. in Elementary Education and has taught for over twelve years in Pre-K, Kindergarten, and primary grade classrooms. Like Casey Munch in her book series, she is passionate about creating a more just and equitable world. She savors vegan food, loves board games and podcasts, relishes horror movies and novels, devours social science nonfiction, spontaneously belts out tunes from musicals, and does some of her best writing while drinking coffee at 1 AM. She lives in Cleveland, OH with her wife Dana and their dog companion Solstice. The Munchkins is her debut four-time award-winning novel..

Born in a close-knit family where drama is the norm, becoming an author was not surprising. In her writing, Masterson draws readers into a world of escapism and expression. Storytelling comes alive in her descriptive writing, and the complexities of human relationships are better understood through the lens of fantasy and paranormal romance. Masterson currently resides in New England with her family, an aging Chihuahua, a rambunctious Pitbull/Boxer mix, and a feisty cat who rules us all.

Reflecting on her own childhood, Kathy Kelley had loving parents, but was never taught how to express and process "negative" feelings. As a result, she suppressed many of them, feeling shame and guilt when she felt anything but positive emotions. She became a mother at the age of twenty-one but lost her own mother two years later.

Heartbroken, and working at a soul-destroying job she could not afford to leave, Kathy became deeply depressed. Happiness was elusive—something she had always been waiting for. One day, she admitted to herself that she was angry and sad. She was frustrated by how reactive she was, and regretful about her lack of patience with her son. She hated who she had become. Looking back, Kathy saw that she had not been equipped to teach her son how to process thoughts and emotions in a healthy way, and had instead passed on her unsuccessful coping strategies.

Kathy had her second son sixteen years after her first, with a lot of self-development and learning in between. As the result of a mindfulness journey lasting over a decade, Kathy now feels very positive about life and the future. Becoming a mother again has given her the chance to not only share what she has learned with both of her sons, but also help parents and children to acknowledge and deal with uncomfortable thoughts and feelings in a healthy way through meditation.

Kathy lives in Alberta, Canada.

Roger E. Pedersen, author of the Sci-Fi, dystopian SuperPower book series, began writing after losing everything, including his job, paramour, house, and car, which caught fire.

After extensive research, Roger, who lived in a homeless shelter near New York City, began writing the first SuperPower book.

Roger is not just a talented writer but a man of diverse interests. With an advanced degree in Computer Science Software Production, he is also a US Chess Life Candidate Master. His love for adventure is evident in his enjoyment of cruising on Carnival, visiting the Florida and California theme parks, and seeing blockbuster movies weekly.

Before his foray into writing, Roger was a top computer game designer and developer. His expertise in this field is evident in the SuperPower series, where readers can play three games as they progress through each book. These games involve identifying the referenced movie, book, or music, such as when Apollo Steele, the best man at his twin brother Rocky's wedding, quotes, 'Your 'Pretty Woman' has become 'The Runaway Bride.' Both are Julia Roberts and Richard Gere movies.

In addition to writing the SuperPower book series, Roger E. Pedersen has written the script for book 1, 'Deal of the Art,' which can be optioned and viewed along with the other books on StoryRocket.com.
