An innovative method for choosing books to read

Mood & Emotion Books Character & Plot

Greetings - I'm an independent journalist, the author of 15 nonfiction books, and a great many articles on food, farms, the future, and native wisdom ways.

I'm a Native American writer, born in and raised around San Antonio; deeply rooted in and now live in the
heart of Texas. My life is centered around God, my family and—as I affectionately refer to fiction writing as
"telling lies." After all, isn't that what we, as fiction writers, endeavor to do? We craft intricate
worlds, breathe life into characters, and then spoon-feed them to our readers, hoping they lose themselves, if
only momentarily, in the fabricated realities we create as they forget about life for a while.
I have an unwavering love for reading and cinema, each book I devour unfolding like a film in my mind. Vivid
and animated.  I love watching movies. When reading a book, I expect it to come alive for me on the pages;
unravelling much like a movie in my mind. When I write, I strive to transpose the cinematic tapestry of my
imagination onto paper. Two novels I penned in the 1980s underwent a transformation into screenplays in the
1990s and were recently reimagined into the novels now available online. While the essence remains, the
narratives have evolved, reflecting the experiences and perspectives of the past two decades.

Writing has been a companion of mine since my teenage years, a constant amidst life's ebb and flow. My life's
journey led me to start my own catering business which I ran for sixteen years, briefly sidelining my literary
pursuits. Then, with the encouragement of my husband fellow writer friends, I reclaimed my pen, breathed new

life into my manuscripts and rekindled my love for writing. And—I haven't stopped!

For over three decades, the characters conceived in my mind have lingered and grown, yearning to be shared with
the world. It’s time their stories unravel on the blank canvas, and it’s time for readers to experience the
emotional tapestry they weave. If my tales invoke laughter, tears, and a myriad of emotions, then I will have
succeeded as a writer.
And this journey, rich with promise and potential, is just beginning…

I am a newish author. I currently have published one novella on Amazon and Barnes and Noble titled Texas Faith. My next novella is due out in April entitled Tormented By Her Past. I primarily write love stories however I am going to venture into the realm of children's books with my third one.

Born in New York City, Lou felt he was destined to become a writer ever since receiving a toy printing press at the age of eight, which inspired him to write and publish the Bayside News, which he then hawked for five cents to surrounding neighbors.

Following high school he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, and began his writing career in earnest, completing courses from The Naval School of Journalism and writing for several armed forces publications.

After his discharge, Lou resided in Rhode Island and studied journalism and creative writing first at the University of Rhode Island, before returning to NYC and transferring to New York University. At the same time, he was employed as a cub reporter for William Randolph Hearst’s flagship newspaper, The New York Journal-American, the country's largest afternoon daily, learning his craft alongside such acclaimed journalists as Jimmy Breslin, Dorothy Kilgallen, and noted sports writer and broadcaster Stan Fischler. When the Journal-American folded, along with several other Manhattan dailies, he became the city reporter for the Long Island Press, and was honored in 1967 by receiving New York City’s Best Spot News Story of the Year award. In 1969 he left the failing newspaper field and became a public relations executive, first for The Long Island Rail Road as Broadcast Relations Manager and then as an account supervisor for Grey Advertising.

During this period Lou wrote his critically acclaimed poetry book, the sadness of happy times, which sold more than 40,000 copies through major outlets such as B. Dalton, Brentano's and Waldenbooks.

In 1973 Lou opened his own marketing and advertising agency, The LKD Group, with several subsidiaries of Gulf & Western among his clients. He “retired” in 1985 to pursue his writing career full time on the Greek island of Crete with his Greek-American wife, Sofia.

Lou's fiction, poetry, magazine articles, and news stories have appeared in numerous publications in the United States, Greece, and Great Britain. His published literary works include the iconic 1950s coming-of-age novel, Be Bop A Lula, as well as the perennial-selling free verse poetry book, the sadness of happy times. Other published books include If You've Ever Loved a Married Man and On The Road to Here.

After his father's diplomatic mission finished at the end of 1989, he returned to Iraq, where he continued his studies and graduated from the University of Dentistry. Inspired by his trip to Iraq, he wrote his second novel, The Gardener of Baghdad. He did not stop there, as "Matt" his latest Short Story Thriller Series became available 2015.
