I am an author, educator, speaker, survivor, and advocate whose work is grounded in one conviction: informed, compassionate conversations can help people recognize manipulation, reclaim their voices, and move toward healing.
Internet Dating Predators: How Darkness Led to Healing and Personal Growth, grew from my lived experience of deception, coercive control, financial exploitation, and the difficult work of rebuilding trust in myself. Through personal narrative, journal reflections, research, and practical guidance, I shine a light on the warning signs that are often visible only in hindsight and on the strength it takes to leave, recover, and thrive.
I wrote the first draft of Internet Dating Predators in 2008–2009, when public awareness of romance fraud and online predatory behaviour was limited. What began as a private path to closure became a public mission to reduce shame, challenge victim-blaming, and help others understand that these crimes begin with manufactured connection and trust, not with money.
Before becoming an author and advocate, I built a career in adult education and learning design. I hold a Master of Education from the University of British Columbia and have extensive experience creating innovative learning solutions across the full learning cycle, from analysis and design to content development, facilitation, assessment, and continuous improvement. My background as an educator shapes my clear, practical, and human-centred approach to difficult subjects.
My perspective is also informed by a life of curiosity and connection. Having travelled to nearly 40 countries, often for extended periods and alongside local communities, I bring a deep respect for diversity, inclusion, and the many ways people make meaning from their experiences.
Today, I speak and write about romance fraud, psychological manipulation, intuition, recovery after betrayal, and personal growth. I am committed to helping survivors feel seen, heard, and understood. And reminding them that what happened does not define what comes next. Manipulation belongs to the manipulator.
