Anne Ikiara is an author, speaker, and development practitioner whose work lives at the intersection of African literature, social justice, and digital rights. With over two decades of leadership across non-profit and international advocacy sectors, her career centers on amplifying marginalized voices, building organizational resilience, and expanding inclusive digital spaces. As co-architect of the internationally recognized Bit’s Youth Empowerment Model, she was honored with the Anita Borg Change Agent Award (2009) and the Social Impact Award (2011) for her trailblazing contributions to technology access and youth development.

Her creative writing brings the same rigor to memory, historical trauma, and systemic power. In 2024, her short story Goat in Hyena’s Court placed in the top 7% of the prestigious Bridport International Short Story Competition, setting the stage for her acclaimed debut novel, The Line of One (2025). Launched in partnership with Alliance Française Nairobi, the novel traces the long arc of childhood agency from colonial Kenya to the present day. Anne is currently finalizing her third novel, The Names No One Said, a powerful narrative confronting the 1991 tragedy in St. Kizito, Kenya, to explore memory, justice, and the silence surrounding gendered violence. Her next upcoming work, Humanitarian Lynching Tree (expected 2027), offers a sharp critique of the internal power dynamics and fault lines within international development systems.

An accomplished researcher, Anne holds research grants from the Social Science Research Council (SSRC) and OSSREA, with work published across academic and policy forums. She holds a MA of Arts in Gender and Development.
